J+J/Invision Unveils New Chicago Showroom by Grant Design Collaborative

DALTON, GA – J+J/Invision announces the grand reopening of its newly redesigned flagship showroom in the Chicago Merchandise Mart. The opening coincides with the world’s largest commercial furnishings show, NeoCon, June 13 – 15, 2011. Located on the tenth floor of the Merchandise Mart, the 2,300 sq ft space was designed by Grant Design Collaborative in Atlanta, an award-winning firm that specializes in brand and product development for the commercial furnishings industry.

The showroom was design to provide a timeless and functional backdrop for J+J/Invision’s vast array of broadloom and modular commercial carpet offerings. According to Bill Grant, Grant Design Collaborative’s president and creative director, “Our intention was to design a space that properly communicated J+J/Invision’s quality, craftsmanship and brand spirit.

As a family-owned business for three generations, we wanted the space to be inviting, friendly and comfortable while highlighting J+J/Invision’s exceptional product design capabilities.” J&J Industries’ CEO, David Jolly, also states, “Our Chicago showroom is a vital component in communicating J+J/Invision’s mission not only at NeoCon but throughout the year as a highly-functioning regional showroom and business center. We are confident that our new showroom reflects our mission to engineer broadloom and modular commercial carpet with a steadfast commitment to design, quality, service, integrity and sustainability.”

Unique design features of the new J+J/Invision showroom include an innovative wall display system for displaying the brand’s products. Utilizing a series of horizontal walnut slats that fold down to create shelving-on-demand. The unique system, designed by Grant, allows unlimited product wall displays, from single carpet tiles to full wall murals. In addition, the space was designed to be open, allowing accessible flow throughout.

The back area of the showroom was created to reflect a working design studio with large modular communal worktables and product storage units that can be connected for large groups and presentations or separated for smaller, more intimate gatherings.

A new open conference room was added to the front of the space for more formal meetings but opens to the showroom when not in use. The conference room also features floor-to-ceiling walnut storage cabinets for ample product sample availability.

To support J+J/Invision’s excellent record for environmental stewardship, sustainability was a driving factor throughout the design and construction process. All of the former carpet was reclaimed and recycled, and the new modular carpet, Corrugated, features the brand’s PVC-free eKo® backing from post-consumer and pre-consumer recycled content. eKo® modular carpet tile is NSF/ANSI Standard 140-2007 Platinum certified. Grant also specified VOC-free paint throughout the space. All showroom seating furnishings feature GreenGuard certification from ISO 14001 sources.
